Team member spotlight: Shirin Namdarian

On June 28 2021, Shirin Namdarian joined 6clicks as our Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance.

A monster of a role that needs a superstar, and Shirin ticks all the boxes.

Shirin’s stellar career so far takes in the likes of ANZ, EY, AMP and Yext - covering roles such as analyst, senior consultant, technology & operations risk and security compliance management.

So, you can imagine the mad skills in Shirin’s swag.

Instead, I’ll be asking questions that have nothing to do with any of the above so we can get to know the person behind the LinkedIn profile.

Any Netflix Recommendations?

I like to pride myself on being someone that you can get Netflix recommendations from, so this question is very fitting. More recently you’ll hear me say - You, Clickbait and Chicago Med.

What do you think about when you’re stuck in traffic?

Really important stuff like what I’m planning to eat for my next meal!

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I still haven’t figured this out, but I’m hoping I’m not the only one? (Nope, you are certainly not! - Ed) I’d probably be working with kids or a school teacher if I wasn’t doing what I am now.

Apart from your complete dedication to 6clicks, what do you like to do in your free time?

I’m a bit of a foodie so trying new cafes and restaurants. I also love travelling and visiting new places! My favourite places so far in the world have been San Sebastian and Nashville. San Sebastian for the culture, food and wine and I would say Nashville for the cowboy hats and the music.

What was your go-to food delivery meal during the pandemic?

Five Guys Burgers and Fries. I'll definitely cause some drama with this statement, but it is the best burger I’ve had.

City, beach, or country?

That’s a hard one as they are all equally beautiful but after living in New York definitely have to say city!

What motivates you to get up in the morning?

Is it bad if I say... my first cup of coffee? 😀

Related, what inspires you most in your personal life?

Just by helping people when I can, challenging myself and trying to learn something new each day. I’m super lucky to have some supportive and amazing people in my life.

You wake up tomorrow and win $30 Million. Where are you going and what are you buying?

I’d give some away to my parents and donate some to make a positive impact somewhere. Then spend the rest trying to buy an island or house in the South of France. Or rather break into the property market in Australia!

What’s the #1 luxury item in your dream home?

A really good coffee machine, or an in-house barista – I'm not sure if that exists but it’s a great idea.

What’s your favourite holiday celebration and why?

Christmas! By far the best time of the year. And yes, I am one of those people that has Mariah Carey – All I want for Christmas Is You on repeat during the holidays.

What’s your family like?

We are a pretty close family. I have 3 older brothers so you can imagine what that was like growing up being the younger sister (like having 4 dads?).

Finally, and probably the most important question... What do you think of clowns?

I don’t hate them, but I don’t love them.
